Industrial Elegance: A Modern Law Firm
Dentons Ottawa office stands out as an innovative and forward-thinking law firm with its modern and refined aesthetics. The space features industrial, raw elements juxtaposed with a warm, sophisticated color palette, refined materials, and furnishings, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere.

The front of the house is designed for maximum flexibility, allowing the space to be used for a variety of functions, including events and staff town halls. The reception desk is centrally located, with the espresso bar visible through glass doors across the elevator lobby. Off reception are three glazed meeting rooms that open up to create larger meeting spaces with stunning views of the parliament. Opposite to these, the multi-functional staff lounge features welcoming Scandinavian wood tones and a whimsical ceiling/lighting treatment.

The project was completed in two phases, allowing Dentons to remain operational during construction. The vast art collection formed a central part of the vision for the space, with solid office walls replaced by glazed façades to democratize access to daytime and views. Gallery walls throughout the space showcase the art collection, creating a visual experience for all those moving throughout the space.

Distinguished feature: Industrial elements showcase open ceilings with exposed ducts and polished concrete floors, which are paired with timeless furniture pieces and crisp modern glazed partitions. A commissioned piece by indigenous artist Corey Bulpitt adorns a large set of movable walls separating two meeting rooms, combining functionality with art. Custom-built bench seating accentuates the unique shape of the building in both corner meeting rooms and the staff lounge. Linear recessed light fixtures, transitioning from walls to ceiling, mimic the dynamic, forward-thinking aspect of Dentons. Angular shapes and Dentons-inspired shades of purple are repeated throughout the space, including a full-length upholstered banquette seating which provides a dramatic background in the staff espresso bar.
